| Fradonnière lies near the former miner town Buxières les Mines in the French department of Allier. The Allier is located in the north of the region Auvergne in central France. Rivers, forests and rolling landscape make up the Allier to a landscape that was once the cradle of a French dynasty. Castles and priory recall that royal past. Bourbon l'Archambault (about 9 mi) is the cradle of the Bourbon dynasty and is a well-known spa with thermal baths. Also in Agonges (about 15 mi) the royal past is still clearly visible. No fewer than 13 castles counts this town and has therefore the highest 'castles density "of France. Romanesque churches, there are plenty in the Allier and in the Auvergne, as for example in Saint-Menoux (about 15 mi). The building in Saint-Menoux is devoted to Menulphus, the Brittany bishop who came to death in the seventh century, and is one of the few churches with an antechamber of the year one thousand. Saint Menoux is still a small place of pilgrimage for people who after a visit to the church hope to be of their stress and headache. A fun and educational day is a visit to the theme-park Vulcania, near Clermont-Ferrand (about 62 mi), located in the Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne. And if you are there, you can sit down on top of the Puy-de-Dôme and enjoy the very impressive view. The Allier, like many French departments, is named after a river. Obviously limited nature is not confined to the river. Raptors as the gray buzzard and black kite you see in the whole region as well as marten, badgers, squirrels, wild boar, red deer in the Fôret de Tronçais, deer, otters and even the European movirsko (march turtle). There are several lakes with good bathing water, such as the Plan d’eau de Vieure a few miles away. The immediate vicinity of Fradonnière, but also the rest of the Allier, is well suited to easy cycling and walking tours. We have descriptions of a number of local tours for you. We also included as bed and breakfast in regional bicycle and hiking tour where you stay every night in another accommodation. |
